The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this story, it is one of my all time favourite books. Though I recommend that it needs to be read at the very least two times, and so does Sir Lloyd Andrew Webber. Hahaha :P
I remember receiving it in my last year of primary school, as a prize on Speech Day, thanks Codrington High School(now known as Codrington Primary School).
Yet, I would never read it until some years later.

There is a strong theme of passion throughout the story. A passion for love, music, dance, theatre, and opera. A desired passion to be accepted, to be noticed, to be LOVED, and of course a strong passion for possessiveness.
The story is dark, sensual, mysterious, a bit lively, and is filled with much suspense. The characters are enjoyable, and I fell in love with all of them.

Also understand, the book and the musical are vastly different. Sir Andrew took from the book to make his version of it through music, which also rocked. So if you haven't seen the broadway musical, I also recommend that ;).
However I recommend this first. :D
